The Difference Now?

A list of differences between those two Referendums and this Casino Project:

  1. Five Guiding Principles were developed by the MCK, which clearly define their positions on the major aspects of any major gaming project.
  2. One of the Principles of the current project is that individual dividends will be given out.
  3. Both past project locations involved lands which could have been used for Housing and which were well within the current territory. The preferred location for this NEW proposal are lands set to return to Kahnawà:ke, along Highway 30, which are currently not under Kahnawà:ke jurisdiction.
  4. A Treasury, independent from the MCK, will oversee a proposed casino and distribute funds. This will be developed in consultation with the Community and will be carefully set-up to be accountable to the people, with measures developed to assure complete accountability.
  5. The MCK will not be guaranteed any revenue. Instead, the MCK will have to apply for funding like any other person, group, entity or organization.

This Casino Project

Location: Highway 30 lands slated to return to Kahnawà:ke, which are not currently 'officially' a part of today's territory
